Fire from wood that no longer bears fruit
These charcoals are the result of a simple gesture of circularity: apple wood comes from maintained orchards, from trees cut during cyclical maintenance or replaced at the end of their productive cycle. Instead of being burned as waste or left to decompose, the wood becomes charcoal - concentrated, condensed matter, ready for ritual fire.
The process is one of transformation through pyrolysis - controlled burning, in the absence of oxygen, which eliminates water and volatile components from the wood and leaves behind only pure carbon. What remains is a dense, thermally stable material that burns slowly and evenly, without open flame, without dense smoke.
Each disc contains within itself the history of a tree that bore fruit for years. Now, in its last gesture, it offers warmth and support for fumigation.
Self-ignition - quick gesture, slow burn
These charcoals are self-igniting charcoals - they contain a small amount of combustion agent (usually saltpeter or natural nitrates) that allows for rapid ignition, just with a match flame or lighter.
The process is visible: the charcoal begins to sparkle, the sparks cross the surface like a wave of light, and after 20-30 seconds the entire tablet becomes active, incandescent-red under a thin layer of white ash.
No need for prolonged open flame, wind, or constant blowing. The charcoal ignites itself and burns completely, without intervention.
Burning time and compatibility with botanical fumigation
Each charcoal burns for 40-60 minutes, depending on ventilation and the amount of aromatic material added. The heat is constant, without sudden peaks. The temperature reaches approximately 600-800°C in the contact area, enough for gentle heating of resins without carbonizing them.
These charcoals are suitable for:
- burning Boswellia Sacra frankincense and other natural resins
- fumigation of botanical blends - dried plants, herbs, roots
- long-lasting rituals that require sustained smoke presence
The charcoal does not add its own aroma. The smell is neutral, with a discreet, woody note that does not interfere with the botanical materials burned on top.
Apple wood - sweet, clean, no petroleum residues
Apple wood is appreciated for its clean burn. Unlike some resinous woods that leave dense deposits, apple wood burns without excessive soot and produces fine, white ash that disperses easily.
It is a wood from the category of hard fruitwoods (along with cherry, pear, plum), with medium-high density and balanced combustion. It does not burn too quickly, nor too aggressively. It provides constant, predictable heat that allows resins and plants to open gradually, without thermal shocks.
