A Safety Tool, Not for Improvization

These tongs are not an optional accessory. They are the tool that maintains the necessary distance between your hand and charcoal that reaches 800°C.

Self-igniting charcoal sparks violently in the first few seconds of ignition. The flame must be held constantly at the edge of the disk for 5-10 seconds. If you hold the charcoal with your fingers, you'll burn yourself. If you leave it on a flat surface and try to light it there, it won't light evenly - it needs air on all sides.

The tongs solve both problems: they hold the charcoal suspended in the air and keep it at a safe distance while you apply the flame.

After ignition, the tongs allow you to place the charcoal in the fumigation vessel without touching hot surfaces, without bringing your hand close to the intense heat zone.

The Correct Ignition Method

  1. Firm Grip: The tongs grip the charcoal firmly on the edge, without crushing it. The charcoal should be stable, not shaking.
  2. Suspended in Air: Lift the charcoal to eye level, held vertically or slightly inclined. Air must circulate freely around it.
  3. Apply Flame: Bring the flame from matches or a candle to the edge opposite the one held by the tongs. Maintain contact for 5-10 seconds. The charcoal begins to spark.
  4. Wait: Do not withdraw the flame too early. Wait for the sparks to traverse at least half of the charcoal's surface before placing it in the vessel.
  5. Controlled Placement: Using the tongs, place the charcoal in the fumigation vessel, on sand or ash. Immediately withdraw the tongs.

Without tongs, this action becomes a dangerous improvisation. With tongs, it becomes a simple, predictable, safe ritual.

Compatibility and Extended Use

The tongs can be used for:

  • Lighting vegetable charcoal - the main use
  • Moving lit charcoal from one vessel to another
  • Adjusting the charcoal's position during fumigation, without touching hot surfaces
  • Lifting hot metal lids from electric heaters
  • Extinguishing tea light candles, without blowing or using fingers

These are not kitchen tongs. They are not cosmetic tweezers. They are a ritual safety tool, eliminating the risk of unnecessary burns.

Composition and Purity

100% stainless steel
